Lando Norris delivered a masterclass in treacherous conditions to win a dramatic and rain-hit British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday, beating McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri and veteran Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg in a race filled with chaos, penalties, and history, MySportDab Reports.

Norris claimed his first-ever home win, his fourth victory of the season, and eighth career triumph, crossing the line 6.8 seconds ahead of Piastri, who was handed a 10-second penalty for slowing excessively behind the safety car while leading.

The result lifts Norris within eight points of series leader Piastri in the drivers’ championship.

“Thank you, McLaren, thanks everyone,” said an emotional Norris. “This is beautiful. Winning at home—this is a dream.”

Hulkenberg’s third-place finish marked the first podium of his career after a record 239 races, a moment he described as “pretty surreal” and “a long time coming.”

The race began under a safety car due to earlier torrential rain, with Verstappen starting from pole. Early chaos saw RB’s Liam Lawson and Alpine’s Franco Colapinto retire, and multiple Virtual Safety Cars followed.

Piastri overtook Verstappen on lap eight before worsening rain triggered more pit stops and a full safety car.

Norris suffered a slow stop but regained control after Verstappen’s errors and a collision involving Isack Hadjar and Mercedes rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli brought out another safety car.

Verstappen’s gripless spin and Piastri’s penalty handed Norris the advantage in a race that tested every driver’s nerve and skill. Lewis Hamilton finished fourth for Ferrari, ahead of Verstappen in fifth.

Pierre Gasly, Lance Stroll, Alex Albon, Fernando Alonso, and George Russell rounded out the top ten.

On F1’s 75th anniversary and 1,173rd race, Silverstone delivered an unforgettable spectacle—and a new British hero.
