The Red Devils have struggled with a gruelling domestic campaign in the just-concluded football season and new manager Ruben Amorim can’t wait to reinforce.
One of the areas begging for attention is the attack. For context, none of Manchester United’s forwards recorded a double-digit goal tally in the just-concluded season.
Captain Bruno Fernandes shouldered much of the goal-scoring responsibility despite playing in the central midfield role.
With the poor goal turn-out from the forwards which heavily impacted the team’s fortunes, United are in the market for more attacking options as they prepare for next season.
They have been identified with elite-level forwards like Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres but a deal for either of the duo will be largely dependent on their financial standing.
With their dwindling fortunes on the field, it is understood their financial outlook isn’t promising, hence high-value signings is literally implausible.
Despite the aforementioned hindrances, United are still hopeful of securing an elite striker to bolster their attacking ranks.
According to German outlet, BILD, the Red Devils are now in the race to sign Benjamin Sesko. The 22-year-old Slovenian forward scored 13 goals plus five assists for RB Leipzig in the just-concluded season.
RB Leipzig are open to Sesko’s departure, but reportedly wants at least €100million before sanctioning his transfer exit.
It is yet unclear how far United can progress on the deal but their domestic rivals Arsenal are also said to be interested in the player and have even agreed personal terms.
Sesko could be a great addition to United should the Red Devils pull through a deal.
He is known for his pace, team play, dribbling, and insane goal-scoring abilities.
