Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Jeremy Frimpong this summer, MySportDab reports.
We reported earlier that the Reds were close to agreeing terms with the player as they step up their move to replace Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Now, it has been confirmed they have reached an agreement on personal terms with the player and will push to settle club terms with Bayer Leverkusen to seal the move.
Details of the agreement, as revealed, showed Jeremy Frimpong has agreed to a five-year contract with the Premier League champions and will join this summer, as initially reported.
The Dutch defender played a big role in the progress of talks with the Premier League giants.
He had always wanted Liverpool, and it is understood Bayer Leverkusen are open to his exit, but his £29million release clause must be met.
The 23-year-old emerged into the limelight last season, playing a big role in Bayer Leverkusen’s first-ever Bundesliga triumph.
He accumulated 31 Bundesliga appearances in the season, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.
This season, Bayer Leverkusen have fallen short of their last campaign’s heroics, but Frimpong has maintained his exceptional individual performance.
He has amassed 10 goal contributions for the Die Werkself, comprising five goals and five assists.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot reportedly played a big role in this move. The Dutch tactician is reportedly a big fan of the player due to his dynamism in the right-back role and suitability for his attacking style of play.
From the foregoing, Frimpong will be Liverpool’s first signing this season and is expected to replace departing Trent Alexander-Arnold.
