Manchester City made a roaring return to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, MySportDab reports.
The Citizens went into the game on the back of a winless six-match run in all competitions and desperately needed victory to turn the tides and launch back into the Premier League title race.
On the other hand, Nottingham Forest went into the clash on a pretty brilliant run under manager Espirito Nuno Santo.
However, the Etihad was an unlikely ground for the Tricky Trees to wrestle even a point.
Determined to put the dragging run of disappointing results behind, City got off the mark quickly to set the stage for a deserved victory.
Bernardo Silva fired the hosts into the lead just eight minutes into the game, thanks to a brilliant assist by Kevin de Bruyne.
A minute after the half-hour, Kevin De Bruyne also found the back of the net for the Premier League Champions from an assist by Doku.
Silva and Kevin De Bruyne’s strike made the difference in the first half as the hosts went into the break with a deserved 2-0 lead.
In the second half, City continued on their dominant display and were looking set to extend the lead.
Three minutes before the hour-mark, Jeremy Doku finally nailed home the hosts’ third goal from Erling Haaland’s assist.
With over 30 minutes left to play, Nottingham Forest did little to mount a comeback but continued reeling under City’s mounting pressure.
With little advances into the opponent’s area, it was evident City were coasting to their first win after six matches, thanks to the goals from Silva, De Bruyne, and Doku.
It ended 3-0 at the blast of the final whistle with City securing all three points to close the gap at the top of the table to 7 points.
