Aston Villa grabbed a shocking Champions League win over Bayern Munich at Villa Park, MySportDab reports.
The Premier League side, who are making their presence in the elite club competition in Europe, saw off the regulars and Bundesliga giants with an impressive and statement victory.
Bayern Munich went into the game as favourites, having finished in the last four of last season’s competition. They started the game on the front foot but were regularly struggling to hold down Aston Villa when the hosts broke on counter attacks.
Before the break, the Villains rippled the back of the net after a free-kick and goal-mouth struggle but the goal was chalked off after a VAR check much to the relief of the Vincent Kompany-led side.
The first half ended barren with both sides unable to find the back of the net but it was a thrilling clash repleted with goal scoring chances.
Bayern Munich continued dominating proceedings in the second half but it was still a deadlock for the Bavarians with Aston Villa effectively holding them out during offensives while waiting to pounce during counter attacks.
And they finally got one past the Bundesliga giants. Substitute Jhon Duran was through on goal, coming one-on-one with Manuel Neuer and he effectively rounded the goalkeeper lobbing a first-time effort past him to make it 1-0 for the home side.
Bayern Munich ramped up attempts to find an equalizer but Aston Villa were equal to the challenge, defending hard to preserve the lead.
At the blast of the final whistle, Jhon Duran’s goal was all Aston Villa needed to secure a historic and statement victory over Bayern Munich at Villa Park.

The Villains have now made it two wins in two games in the competition and are now favorites to qualify for the knockouts with six matches left in the league phase.
