Ademola Lookman scored a brace as Nigeria thrashed Benin in Uyo 3-0 for the AFCON 2025 qualifiers match, MySportDab reports.
Victor Osimhen made sure he made his mark in the encounter with a dazzling goal scored after coming off the bench.
It was a brilliant start for Augustine Eguavoen who recently took over the job after Bruno Labbadia pulled out of taking over.
First Half ReportÂ
It was a wonderful showdown in Uyo Stadium which saw the Super Eagles coming out with some fire in them as they looked to get revenge.
Benin did well enough from their end trying to contain what was being thrown at them by the Super Eagles who dominated play.
It was slow from Nigeria who had all the ball but struggled to make anything happen on the pitch despite how much pressure they applied.
It was until the 45 minute plus additional time of the first half that saw Ademola Lookman with an outstanding finish made things 1-0.
Nigeria headed for the break on top with a 1-0 lead against Benin after 45 minutes of action between both nations at the Uyo Stadium.
Second Half ReportÂ
The resumption of the second half saw a lot more coming from both teams who pushed with everything possible.
It was more from Nigeria as they saw their opponent were more open and that create some loopholes for movement around the pitch.
Benin conceded again in the match after a wonderful finish Victor Osimhen who came into the pitch and made things 2-0 in the 78th minute.
Things continued to go one sided for the Super Eagles which saw Ademola Lookman making things 3-0 in the 83rd minutes with a fine finishing.
It was done and dusted as the Super Eagles of Nigeria claimed a 3-0 victory against Benin after 90 minute of action giving them all three points at home.
