Chelsea owner Todd Boehly lost his bearing after Chelsea went down 2-0 to visitors Manchester City in 2024-25 Premier League opener, MySportDab reports.

Boehly had joined Chelsea fans on the stands to watch the club trade tackles with the Premier League champions in the opening fixure.

It took Manchester City just 17 minutes to draw the first blood and take the lead. Terrific attacking forward Erling Haaland was yet again on his goal-scoring heroics.

Weathering a challenge from Marc Cucurella, the Norwegian striker tipped Jeremy Doku’s pin-point pass into the back of the net, beating Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea did little to mount a comeback despite a more promising performance after going down by a lone goal the first-half proceedings ended with City taking the lead.

In the second half, the game was largely spent when former Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic scored a stunner from the edge of the box to double the lead for the visitors.

The two goals by City effectively sealed Chelsea’s fate in the game. At the instance of the second goal, Todd Boehly, who looked largely unimpressed at the performance of the team, was seen in footage furiously walking out of the stadium.

Reactions have trailed the American’s shocking move after Kovacic’s goal. A fan wrote, “where is he going? Come and watch till the end.”

Another fan said, “He is going to buy Pele and Ronaldo de Lima next.”

Another said, “The billion pounds bottlejob aren’t doing their job and have disappointed again.”

MySportDab understands Todd Boehly have spent £1.9bn in three transfer windows since he became the club’s owner in 2022.

So far, it has been a disappointing campaign for the Blues under the watch of the American investor. However, he will hope for new successful chapter with new manager Enzo Maresca at the helm of affairs.
