Manchester United are reportedly ready to meet the release of clause of Dutch and Bologna prolific striker Joshua Zirkzee, MySportDab reports.

The 23-year-old Bayern Munich Academy graduate has emerged as a top target for Premier League clubs after his heroics for Bologna in the 2023-24 Serie A season.

Regarded as one of the most promising forwards, Zirkzee starred for Bologna, leading the charge as the Serie A side defied the odds to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

Amidst interest from several Premier League Clubs, Zirkzee is contracted to Bologna till 2026. However, he has a release clause worth £33.8million on his contract.

According to Sky Germany, Manchester United, who are leading the race to sign the prolific forward, are ready to trigger the release clause on Zirkzee’s contract to sign the player.

This means United will have a chance to talk with the player and weigh his options about a potential move to Old Trafford.

A move for the Dutch will see the player rank among high-value forward signings under the watch of Erik ten Have since the latter brought in Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta last summer.

Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly not expected to replace Rasmus Hojlund but to serve as a backup for the Danish forward.

The promising forward scored 11 goals with 4 assists in 34 Serie A appearances for Bologna last season. He also scored one goal in 3 Coppa Italia appearances for the club.

Arsenal and Chelsea are among Premier League clubs interested in the player but Manchester United are reportedly leading the race and could seal a deal for the player soon.
