Manchester United’s new contract proposal for Erik ten Hag has been confirmed, MySportDab reports.

After a lengthy end-of-the-season review, United decided to settle with Erik ten Hag despite his failings.  According to Fabrizio Romano, a new contract proposal is on the table for the Dutchman.

Now, The Telegraph reports the proposal is a two-year offer that could see the Dutchman extend his stay at the club till 2026.

Ten Hag’s current Man United contract is a three-year deal which was set to expire in 2025 at the end of the next campaign.

The new two-year contract plan means he could stay at Old Trafford for one more year after his current deal expires.

Sources close to the former Ajax boss confirmed he is happy to retain his job as Man United manager and is unruffled by the lengthy, including reports of the club meeting other potential replacements.

After a brilliant debut campaign in the Man United dugout, Ten Hag’s second season was a near-disaster. United crashed out of Europe, finishing bottom of their Champions League group.

They were also knocked out of the EFL Cup and finished the 2023-24 Premier League season in their worst position in 38 years.

Despite the dismal run, the 53-year-old led United to a spectacular finish, winning the FA Cup trophy by defeating cross-city rivals Manchester Cory at Wembley.

It is believed the final strong showing against City played a big role in Man United’s decision to stick with the Dutch. Also, he has earned race reviews for overseeing the rise of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

With his future at Man United now settled Erik ten Hag will be hoping to change the narrative and get United back to gears in the next campaign.
