Arsenal are preparing a new record contract offer for Mikel Arteta following the Spaniard’s standout campaign with the club, MySportDab reports.
Arteta joined Arsenal as manager in 2020/21 season as manager, signing a three-year contract which is set to expire next summer.
According to The Mail, the London outfit are warming up for talks with Arteta to renew his deal as he prepares to enter the last lap of his contract with the club.
As paet of the contract renewal plan, Arsenal are reportedly ready to improve their terms of agreement with Arteta and trigger an increase in his wages.
MySportDab learned Mikel Arteta’s current contract measures up to £9.5million per season. The 42-year-old is the second highest-paid manager in the Premier League, only behind his former boss at Manchester City Pep Guardiola, who boasts a record £20million per season.
Now, as per the report by The Mail, Mikel Arteta could close up on Pep Guardiola on the earnings ladder as Arsenal prepare to tie him down to a new deal with a new offer.
Arteta has been impressive in the Gunners’ dugout since he took over the helms at Emirates as the manager. He has led Arsenal to a second-place finish in the Premier League in the past two seasons and had come close to ending the club’s 20-year wait for the English top-flight title last season.
There are projections Arsenal are more likely to broker a long-term contract with Arteta as they hope to continue building the club around the Spaniard’s vision and plans.
