Bukayo Saka Clashes With Referee After Being Denied Late Spot-kick in 2-2 UCL Draw

Bukayo Saka was left fuming after Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg denied the Arsenal star a spot-kick in the final seconds of the Champions League first-leg tie against Bayern Munich, MySportDab reports.

Coming against the backdrop of a miserable record against German teams, Arsenal looked set to put Bayern Munich to the sword with a glowing start to the game.

It was not long before Bukayo, who would later be involved in the controversial penalty incident, fired Arsenal into the lead with a superb finish.

Latching on a pass from Ben White, the England prolific winger raced into the Bayern Munich box and beat Manuel Neuer with a clinical finish into the far corner.

However, Bayern Munich fought back to chalked off the lead and go in front, thanks to Serge Gnabry’s low shot from close range and Harry Kane’s penalty goal.

It would take substitute Leandro Trossard’s 74th-minute goal to peg back the visitors to a dramatic 2-2 draw.

In the dying seconds of the game, Arsenal closed in on their biggest chance to wrap up the game with a late winner.

Saka had braved into the Bayern Munich box and nearly rounded Manuel Neuer before he was clipped down by the goalkeeper.

Saka and his teammates immediately clamored for a penalty after the tackle but Glenn Nyberg waved it away as a no-penalty.

The decision has divided pundits with most insisting the Gunners were robbed as the challenge was a clear penalty.

The contention has been that Manuel Neuer actually went for the ball not Saka but missed it before sticking out his leg to clip down the player.

The clip below shows a better angle of the challenge with Neuer evidently fouling Saka although he did so unintentionally.

A furious Saka could been confronting Glenn Nyberg after the decision which denied the home side a big chance to put the Bavarians to the sword ahead of the second leg next week.

The game ended 2-2 with Arsenal set to face a tough task, winning at Anfield next week to book a place in the last four of the competition.
