Ruben Dias Slams Trent Alexander-Arnold For Manchester City Jibe

Manchester City star Ruben Dias has slammed Trent Alexander-Arnold for his jibe on Manchester City about the impact of money on the club’s recent success, MySportDab reports.

Recall Arnold had stoked reactions when he told FourFourTwo that Liverpool’s trophy win is more valid, appealing, and authentic than Manchester City’s who are bankrolled by their rich owners in the Gulf state.

According to Arnold, the Reds trophy win would mean more to the clubs, players, and fans. Conversely, this will not be the case with Manchester City, whose recent successes on the domestic and European front are from the heavy cash sunk into the team by its super-rich owners.

Erling Haaland was the first to respond when Arnold’s comment was read to him on Sky Sports. The Norwegian attacking sensation aimed a subtle dig at Arnold saying he (Arnold) has not experienced the excitement and sense of fulfillment that comes with winning a treble and doing so in one’s first season at a club.

Joining voice with his teammate Erling Haaland, Ruben Dias also aimed a dig on Arnold saying ‘a treble is a feeling you can only know how it feels when you actually do it.

“We’ve won a lot in this club, especially last year with the Treble. I think it’s pretty certain between us, between our fans, how much it meant to all of us.

“At the end of the day, you can only have certain emotions if you actually win stuff. A Treble is a feeling you can only know how it feels when you actually do it.

“I think in a club like Man City and my previous club (Benfica) our greatness will be shown in a way that these comments don’t affect us. We know what we’ve done, we know what we’ve conquered, we know what we’re going for in what’s to come. We don’t do it for anyone else, we do it for ourselves.

The simmering row and storm of reactions that have trailed Alexander-Arnold’s statement comes as anticipation builds ahead of the high-stake Premier League tie between Liverpool and Manchester City at the weekend.

The two teams are separated by only a point at the top of the table. And the outcome of the match will weigh on the chances of the two teams to win this season’s Premier League title.
