Marcus Rashford Saga: Erik ten Hag Fires Warning To Man United Players

Erik ten Hag is not keeping it cool with his Man United players at the wake of Marcus Rashford’s two-day bender in Belfast, England, MySportDab reports.

Rashford raised eyebrows after he went partying for two days in the English suburbs of Belfast and missing Man United training the next day.

He was excluded from Manchester United matchday squad against Newport County in the FA Cup with the club reporting in squad update that he was ill and is spending time away from his teammates to recover.

However, it was later learnt the England star feigned illness and was actually off to a lengthy hours of indulgent escapades at a nightclub in Belfast the preceding day.

After an inquest by United, Rashford admitted wrongdoing and was pardoned by the club.

Uncharacteristically, Erik ten Hag slightly departed from his iron-hand man-management approach, sweeping off Rashford’s partying scandal under the carpet.

But the Dutch is not doubling down soon on his standards as he recently fired warning to Man United players on the standards of behavior demanded of them as professional footballers.

In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Erik ten Hag said;

“First of all, the players at this level need to manage themselves, that is what you can demand from the player,’

‘The player has to know what is good and not good. When you want to play top football, it demands a certain way of life – always.”

Asked if he needs to reinforce that message following Rashford’s 12-hour tequila bender in Belfast, Ten Hag added: ‘
‘No, come on. We are talking about top football players.

‘I don’t have to educate them anymore. When you are playing for Man United, they should know.

‘In football, you need discipline and that is on the pitch but also off the pitch. Every professional knows what is required.’

Marcus Rashford is expected to return to action today for Manchester United as the Red Devils engages Wolves in mid-week Premier League action.
