Barcelona have dropped points again in a big setback to their push to defend the La Liga title following a dramatic 1-1 draw with Valencia, MySportDab reports.
The Catalan giants went into the game on the back to successive defeats against Girona in La Liga and Royal Antwerp in Champions League.
Xavi Hernandez was looking for this first win in three matches, and was close to a win against Valencia before the hosts fought back to level terms.
Barcelona wielded more control of proceedings in the game but struggled to establish absolute dominance over Valencia
It was a shaky first half between the two sides with Valencia putting up a stronger performance against the visitors.
The home side were obviously the better side taking on Barcelona with grit but they could not find the back of the net.
Barcelona also put up promising performances upfront but struggled to take the lead.
The first half ended with both sides heading into the break without finding the back of the net.
Barcelona started the second half with an improved performance, and it wasn’t long before Joao Felix scored for the Catalans to give them the lead in the 55th minutes.
Despite taking the lead, Barcelona still stayed top of their game, and were looking to double the lead before they were dealt a big blow against the run of play.
Guillamon came up clutch for Valencia in the 70th minute to score the equaliser and peg back the Champions from a win.
With 20 minutes left to play, Barcelona made a late push to return to the lead but could not score again as Valencia defended with grit to keep the score at 1-1.
The match ended with Barcelona dropping points again in a big blow to their La Liga title challenge.
