Manchester United have confirmed Casemiro picked up an injury on international duty with Brazil and will miss Saturday’s clash with Sheffield United, MySportDab reports.

United club statement confirming the sad news reveal Casemiro picked up a “small issue” and has not returned to the squad from Brazil.

The former Real Madrid star played in the two Brazil World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Venezuela.

He came off injured in the match against Venezuela but managed to play the full 90 minutes in the 2-0 defeat to Uruguay.

United confirmed on Thursday afternoon: “Casemiro was absent [from training], having remained in Brazil, on the club’s advice, to recover as swiftly as possible from a small issue picked up while playing for his country

“He will be unavailable for Saturday’s game with the Blades but is expected back at Carrington early next week to resume training, although he is suspended for the UEFA Champions League encounter with FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford, after being sent off in the defeat to Galatasaray.”

Casemiro had a great debut season for Manchester United last season  when he helped the team to EFL Cup victory and Champions League qualification.

This season, it has not been an easy ride for the Brazilian midfielder as he has struggled despite temporarily topping the goalscoring chart as the team’s highest goal-scorer.

Casemiro is on a Champions League suspension after picking up a red card in the match against Galatasaray at Old Trafford.

He is also set to miss the Sheffield United game due to the injury but will be expected back to the team to resume training soon.
