Manchester United are reportedly making moves to bring back former goalkeeper David De Gea, MySportDab reports.

The Spaniard shotstopper left Manchester United unceremoniously after 12 years as he could not reach agreement with the club to renew his contract.

Erik ten Hag wanted a new goalie fitting his style of football and David De Gea wasn’t the answer.

Cameroon international and former Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana was signed as a replacement for David De Gea.

Since taking over the no.1 role at Manchester United as new goalkeeper, Andre Onana’s performance has been a cause for concern among United fans save his last-gasp penalty saving heroics against FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League.

Meanwhile, on Monday, David De Gea was spotted reuniting with his former teammate and new Man United captain, Bruno Fernandes further fueling speculations he may likely return to the team.

Now, according to report from The Sun, Manchester United are trying to bring back David De Gea.

However, his likely return is not due to Andre Onana’s underwhelming start to life at Old Trafford. United reportedly want him back as Erik ten Hag is wary of Andre Onana’s prolonged absence when the latter joins Cameroon for AFCON 2023 tournamnent.

Altay Bayindir is yet to taste Premier League action for Manchester United while Tom Heaton remains injured.

Hence David De Gea has been reportedly primed by Manchester United to stand in for Andre Onana when the latter leaves for 2023 AFCON.

Since leaving Manchester United in the summer, De Gea is still a free agent and is yet to find a new club.

Manchester United wanted to renew his contract before his departure but they could not reach an agreement on a new deal after reducing his wage offer twice.
