FIFA have began proceedings on Luis Rubiales for his controversial World Cup kiss on Jenni Hermoso, MySportDab reports.

Luis Rubiales stirred waves of heavy backlash after footage of him planting a kiss on Spain footballer, Hermoso, 33, went viral.

The 46-year-old Spain football chief was seen having his two arms on the head of Hermoso and dragging her close to himself before planting an indecorous kiss on her onstage in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Since the footage surfaced, Luis Rubiales has come under wires from various quarters for such a grim and reckless gesture towards the former Barcelona forward.

High-ranking government officials, including Spain prime minister have called for legal proceedings against Luis Rubiales.

Some fans and pundits have already asked for him to resign while others have pointed fingers on the larger challenges of sexism and sexual assault directed on women footballers.

Jennifer Hermoso, who plays as an attacking midfielder for Mexican club,  FF Pachachu, has revealed she was upset with Luis Rubiales gesture and was not comfortable with it.

Following heavy backlash from various quarters from pundits, fans, and other top officials, Luis Rubiales has tendered an apology but admitted he was enraptured by the emotions of the moment.

Now, according to reports reaching us from Daily Mail, FIFA have began proceedings immediately on Luis Rubiales following the viral footage.

FIFA statement confirmed the world football governing body have begun a probe of Luis Rubiales for ‘offensive behavior and possible breaches of fair play rules.”

Rubiales could face a hefty fine and lengthy ban if he his found guilty.
