PSG have suspended Lionel Messi from the PSG squad, MySportDab reports.
The French Ligue 1 champions have hit Lionel Messi with a two weeks ban, as per Fabrizio Romano.
Earlier today reports have emerged Lionel Messi skipped PSG training session and went on a trip to Saudi Arabia.
Messi featured and played full 90 minutes in PSG shock 3-1 defeat to Lorient at Parc Des Princes.
After the defeat PSG players were set to report to the club’s training the next day but reports emerged Lionel Messi skipped the training and went on a trip to Saudi Arabia.
It was confirmed the trip was a business trip to honour his ambassadorial deal with Saudi Arabia.
Messi signed a mega deal worth £25m annually with Saudi Arabia to promote the country’s tourism sector.
He missed the training after the Lorient game and went on the trip to honour the deal but it was confirmed PSG were not aware of the trip before he undertook it.
PSG manager Christoph Galtier was reportedly against the decision of the Argentina international to embark on the trip since it clash with the scheduled training session.
However, Messi defied the coach and the club to embark on the trip without PSG approval.
Now, it has been confirmed the club have slammed him with a two weeks suspension because of the unauthorized trip.
This implies Messi will not be eligible to feature for the club in their next two games in French Ligue 1.
The suspension is coming amidst rumors linking Lionel Messi to PSG exit in the summer.
He is yet to renew his contract with the club which will run out at the end of the season and it appears the Argentina 2022 World Cup hero is not in terms with the club as things stand.
