Manchester United Coach Erik Ten Hag has now provided a new update on his players ahead of Sunday’s game, MySportDab reports.

Raphael Varane will complete a last minute fitness test to determine if he can play against Everton on Sunday.

The Frenchman got injured in United’s 6-3 loss at Manchester City last week with an ankle problem and missed the Europa League win against Omonia Nicosia.

According to Manchester Evening News, Varane’s injury is not serious enough to keep him sidelined for a long time but United’s medical staff are being careful.

United remained in Cyprus until Friday evening and trained in Nicosia as it is the best period to recovery and prepare for Sunday’s game.

Ten Hag confirmed Harry Maguire is still not bad from his thigh injury.

Speaking about Varane, he said: “It’s hard to say.”

“Varane is trying and I hope he can play but I think it will be close.

“For others, Harry Maguire is not back yet, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek are still unavailable.”

Everton have not lost a match in the Premier League since August and are currently unbeaten in their last seven matches.

They have the best defence, having conceded seven goals in eight so far in the Premier League.

Ten Hag is likely to make some changes from the derby so Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho could drop to the bench.

The duo failed to impress at City, and Malacia was taken off at half-time.

“That’s a balance, I trust my players, I will back them in the worst case,” Ten Hag said.

“When they work hard, give their best in training, take responsibility on the pitch, I will always support them.

“But we are man united and our ambitions are very high, so you must deliver and every player has to take that responsibility.

“That is the standard, from all coaches to the players. I want my players to be brave on the pitch.”
