Speaking ahead of the game against Bournemouth, Erik Ten Hag confirmed Marcus Rashford may likely miss the trip because he has suddenly fallen ill.

The Manchester United top scorer this season, missed the 2-0 win over Wolves due to injury.

But there was an air of optimism in the Manchester United squad after he returned to the team’s training after the game.

Now, in Manchester United squad update delivered by Erik Ten Hag ahead the Bournemouth game, Rashford may likely miss the game.

”Rashy trained well the whole week but today he reported that he is ill. We have to see how he recovers during the day and see tomorrow,” Ten Hag said.

However, Ten Hag dropped positive updates on other Manchester United stars who will make the trip such as Raphael Varane and Scott McTominay.

”So a positive, Varane is definitely available. Scott joined in training. When we find how well he does in training, then we know if he will be in,” he added.

Manchester United will need a win against Bournemouth to say in the top four race.

If they win and Liverpool lose against Aston Villa, the top four spot will be secured for the Red Devils.

Erik Ten Hag will be hoping for nothing short of victory when taking Bournemouth despite facing the prospect of losing Marcus Rashford.

Bournemouth have steered themselves to safety from the relegation battle but will fight it out against the Old Trafford club who are struggling to seal a top-four finish with Liverpool breathing down their neck.
