Chelsea are now ready to sign Barcelona midfielder Gavi and make him one of the highest paid players in the Premier League, MySportDab reports.

The 18-year-old’s Barcelona career is now in doubt due to the latest controversy between his club and La Liga.

Barca can’t currently register Gavi as a first-team player due to their ongoing financial struggles.

Chelsea Officials are said to have held talks with Gavi’s representatives to discuss a potential transfer.

According to Spanish Newspaper AS, Chelsea are ready to break the bank to sign Gavi as Todd Boehly believes he will become a top player at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have already made their interest clear to Gavi and his agents and convinced them of an important role for the player.

AS claims the first meeting went well for both parties and a second round of talks will be scheduled.

There is the possibility that Chelsea Owner would attend the second meeting alongside Gavi’s parents, and the player’s agent.

Barcelona have failed to register Gavi as a first-team squad player but are confident the situation will be resolved by next season.

Gavi’s four-year contract extension signed in September with a £879million release clause is no longer valid because it’s not been approved by LaLiga due to salary limits.

It’s likely Chelsea would have to offer him millions in wages because there would be no transfer fee to sign him.

Gavi has played 87 matches for Barcelona’s first team and also impressed for his country Spain.
