PSG welcomed Lionel Messi back to the team in style as he returned to the team after his World Cup heroics, MySportDab reports.

The 35-year-old led Argentina to their third World Cup trophy, helping them beat France by winning 4-2 on penalties.

 

The Argentine playmaker broke the heart of France football fans scoring twice in the final at the Lusail Stadium.

Despite stripping France of a chance to defend the 2018 World Cup, Lionel Messi was welcomed in style to PSG with the players and club officials mounting a guard of honor for the record Ballon d’Or winner.

He touched down PSG training session today, and was handed a small trophy by sporting director Luis Campos, as he walked down the middle in the midst of applause by his fellow teammates and the entire crew.

Most of his teammates retuned to their respective after World Cup celebrstions, but Lionel Messi had been spending time at home in Buenos Aires, then Rosario, to celebrate Argentina’s World Cup.

He is now back at PSG and was spotted wearing a big smile as he embraced Neymar and his other team-mates at their training ground.

 

Neymar, Ethan Mbappe, Soler were among the PSG players that mounted the guard of honour for Lionel Messi, but Mbappe and Hakimi were absent.

Mbappe and Hakim have went on a short new year break, and were spotted in New York watching basketball.

PSG opened their French Ligue 1 campaign after the World Cup break with a win over Strasbourg before stumbling to a shock 3-1 defeat against Lens.

They will face Auxerre in their next Ligue game, but Lionel will not feature of the team until January 11 when they take on Angers

His current contract with the club expires at the end of the season, and there are reports he is set to extend the contract by one more year.
