Former Tottenham ace Gareth Bale has announced his retirement from football, MySportDab reports.

Gareth Bale has been regarded as one of the finest British football stars who rose to the peak of his football career.

His retirement is coming as a surprise after he hit the lows of his career struggling to break into Real Madrid’s starting lineup in recent years.

From Southampton, Gareth Bale joined Tottenham where he reach the peaks of his football career with the Lilywhites before joining Real Madrid.

At Real Madrid, he won the Champions League five times, including the La Liga title but struggled to cement his place in the team.

In the later parts of his career, Gareth Bale joined Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer, and had a short spell before calling time in his career.

The 2022 World Cup was his last international tournament with Wales, who struggled in the World Cup crashing out in the group stages.

Bale made a record 111 appearances for Wales, and led the country to their highest level in football – Euro 2016 final .

Taking to his Twitter handle, Gareth Bale wrote, ”

“After careful and thoughtful consideration, I announce my immediate retirement from club and international football,” Bale wrote on his social media accounts.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to have realised my dream of playing the sport I love.

“It has truly given me some of the best moments of my life. The highest of highs over 17 seasons, that will be impossible to replicate, no matter what the next chapter has in store for me.”

Bale scored from the penalty spot in his country’s 1-1 draw with USA in Qatar but defeats to Iran and England meant Wales bowed out in the group stage.
