The 28 year old made the move from Barcelona who were looking to ship out the Netherlands International due to financial troubles.

Atletico Madrid paid out €4 million in compensation to Barcelona which enable them reach an agreement for a move this January window.

The move is one which comes following the Spanish side approval to allow Joao Felix move to Chelsea for the remainder of the season on loan.

The Dutch International will replace the Portuguese who’s move could become a permanent one pending his performance in England.

Atletico Madrid confirmed the signing of Memphis Depay today via their official Twitter account and website.

He is expected to be unveiled to the fans in the coming days of this week ahead of their weekend clash.

Memphis Depay will be hoping to quickly establish himself with Atletico Madrid to secure a place as a regular.

There is also possibility of his contract getting an extension based on the fact that it is just a two and half year deal.

The move for the players comes after struggling for game time which also saw his number taken away and handed to Robert Lewandowski.
