Manchester United now have a new update about the injury of defender Raphael Varane, MySportDab reports.

Raphael Varane had to substituted in Manchester City’s 6-3 win over United at the Ethiad on Sunday.

He sustained the injury in the first-half of the match with the scores still 1-0 at that time.

Varane was taken off for the corner which Erling Haaland scored from as he received treatment.

The 29-year-old could not continue further in the 40th minute as United were losing 3-0 but did not go to the tunnel.

According to Manchester Evening News, inside sources at Manchester United have said that Varane’s injury is “not that bad.”

However, United are being cautious after the Frenchman’s struggle with injuries in his first season.

Varane arrived today at United’s Carrington training complex and Coach Erik ten Hag will make a decision on Wednesday if he will travel to Cyprus for the Europa League on Thursday.

Speaking about Varane yesterday, Ten Hag said:

“I don’t think he could have stayed on the pitch, but I just had to take him off because when you are losing by that margin it is not worth risking a bigger injury. He couldn’t play on.”

Victor Lindelof came on to replace Varane at the Etihad for his second match this season and the Red Devils now have four injured defenders.

Harry Maguire missed the Manchester derby due to a thigh injury and Axel Tuanzebe’s absence is long term.

Phil Jones is not in United’s Premier League and Europa League squads so he can only play in the cup games.

Manchester United play Aston Villa in the League Cup on November 10.

Lindelof could start with Lisandro Martinez for the Europa League game this Thursday and United’s game at Everton on Sunday.
