The lack of Champions League football for Manchester United next season has been the reason behind Ronaldo’s desire to leave the club.

United finished in the 6th position last season with Ronaldo scoring 24 goals in all competitions.

He has been linked to many top clubs in Europe including an enticing offer from Asia.

Atletico Madrid has been on of the clubs linked to the 37-year-old.

His representatives led by Jorge Mendes have reportedly met with Diego Simeone to broker a deal for the Portugal international.

Diego Simeone is said to be one of the coaches with much respect for Ronaldo.

He has always describe the Man United legend as a star and great player to work with.

However, as at the time filing this report, it appears that the Spanish giant may not likely sign the player.

According to Atletico Universe, signing Ronaldo by Atletico Madrid may not be a viable option for the club

Ronaldo is currently out of United squad for the pre-season tour. His absence has been linked to family issues.

Although netting 24 times for the Red Devils last season, his second spell at Man United has been far from success.
