Manchester United Legend Wayne Rooney has now revealed who he wants as the next coach, MySportDab reports.
Rooney wants Pochettino to be the next manager of Manchester United.
There is currently a title battle between Pochettino and Ajax Coach Erik Hag for the job at Old Trafford.
Former United players Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand also want Pochettino at the next coach.
Now, Wayne Rooney, who is United’s all-time greatest goalscorer also wants Pochettino.
He believes that Pochettino is the right man to revive Manchester United.
‘In my opinion Pochettino has done everything in the Premier League,’ Rooney told Sky Sports.
‘He has that Premier League experience. At Tottenham, and Southampton, he developed many young players.
‘If i have choose one of the two, I’d pick Pochettino.
‘I will give him the coach Pochettino, and offer him time. For new managers, they need time to put their blueprint on the club and the team, and if you want him to perform.’
This comes amidst reports of United’s dressing room split about who will be the next manager.
Ten Hag is currently the main favourite to get the job ahead of candidates like Pochettino.
However, Wayne Rooney hopes that one day he will manage the two clubs he loves the most.
The 36-year-old is a boyhood Everton fan and started his football career with them before signing for Manchester United.
Asked about his future, he said: ‘There are only two clubs: Manchester United and Everton. I have always been an Everton fan, I spent 13 years at Man Utd.
‘I believe that if I keep improving, learning, i will one day manager those two clubs.
‘You must trust and believe in yourself. Of course there is temptation. There will be different offers that come in and you start thinking.
“But, i think I’m in the right place developing as a manager, and as a coach.’
