An own-goal and one from Sadio Mane ensured Liverpool claimed a 2-0 win against Villarreal, MySportDab reports.
First Half Report
The first half wasn’t good enough for both teams to make something happen going forward against themselves at Anfield.
Liverpool dominated played going forward but couldn’t make anything happen of all their abortive efforts which failed to see them take the lead.
The game continued with Villarreal doing everything to hold off their opponent from scoring as the match carried on going forward from both ends with the game closed up in the two defenses.
Nothing changed in the game which was more about the home side controlling things but was meant to work and no result was coming through with things pushing on forward.
The first half of the match came to an end with Liverpool 0-0 Villarreal after a whole 45 minutes of football leaving the two teams with nothing to write home about at Anfield.
Second Half Report
The second half was different from how the first half played out which saw so much happening this time around by the home team.
Villarreal kept on with their good performance as the match carried on looking evenly balanced despite how much was coming from the home team who had It good.
Liverpool found the breakthrough in the 53rd minute of the game through an own-goal from Pervis Estupinan ensuring the English Premier League side took a 1-0 advantage going forward.
They followed up immediately with another goal from Sadio Mane in the 55th minute which saw the home side increasing their advantage as things were beginning to work out for them.
The match ended with Liverpool taking a 2-0 advantage against Villarreal in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals after 90 minutes played in England which was entertaining.
