Edward Nketiah scored a hat trick as Arsenal reach the semi-finals of the EFL Carabao Cup after beating Sunderland 5-1, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

The first half was good for both sides who had something to celebrate under the 45 minutes which was not dull.

Sunderland held the Gunners in the first 15 minutes of the encounter which saw the Premier League side unable to break them down despite all their attempts.

Edward Nketiah broke the deadlock in the 17th minute of the game which saw the young forward making it count when found himself on open play to make the scoreline 1-0.

The game carried on with Arsenal dominating things against to lower League side who struggled to find any opportunity of making something happen.

Nicolas Pepe made it 2-0 in the 27th minute after another amazing teamwork effort saw Cedric Soares setting up the Ivorian who finished off neatly for the second.

The visiting side pulled one goal back in the 31st minute which came through Broadhead as the scoreline turned 2-1 with a stunning finish from the lower league side.

That was the last goal as the first half of the encounter ended with Arsenal taking a 2-1 advantage into the break against the Sunderland side who gave them a good fight.

Second Half Report

The second half started well for the Gunners who continued from where they left off in the first 45 minutes which was very good.

Edward Nketiah scored in the 49th minute of the second half to increase Arsenal advantage to 3-1 as the match progressed further.

Sunderland was poor in defending which saw them almost conceding immediately and could have led to so many goals as it was all about the soaking the pressure.

Another goal for Edward Nketiah and a hat trick in the 58th minute with an assist from Nicolas Pepe who made things 4-1 going forward.

Debutant Charlie Patino wrapped things off with a goal in the 90th minute plus additional time to make it 5-1 for the Gunners.

The match ended with Arsenal taking a clean 5-1 victory against Sunderland as they made it through into the semi final of the Carabao Cup.
