Christensen: Top Clubs Ready To Fight For In-Form Chelsea Defender (DETAILS)

Several elite clubs are ready to pounce on Chelsea defender, Andreas Christensen amid “issues” over a new contract, according to Italian football journalist, Fabrizio Romano.

Christensen has been exceptional this season for Chelsea has he has helped them to currently sit top of the Premier League table. Their main focus now will be to keep majority of the key players in the team as a good number of them are attracting interests from top clubs.

As it is, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva are all in the final year of their contract at Chelsea. While others including N’Golo Kante and Jorginho, have just less than two years left.

Chelsea will look to prioritize the extension of Rudiger and Christensen’s contracts as both are most likely to attract huge interests from other clubs.

However, according to Romano, Chelsea have not been able to reach agreement with either of these two players till now because of issues regarding verbal agreement and wages.

While speaking on The Here We Go Podcast, Romano stated: “Rudiger would love to stay at Chelsea. He loves the atmosphere, the club and the coach. The only issue now is that he is not happy with the proposal and wants a better offer”

“Christensen had a verbal agreement with Chelsea — it was almost done, but in the last few days there have been some issues.

“Christensen verbal agreement with Chelsea was almost done, but there have been some issues in the last few days. Chelsea are confident he will sign a new contract soon, but many clubs are monitoring the situation. Should the verbal agreement collapse, a good number of top clubs will be ready to pounce on him.”

Romano further claimed that “new contracts are a big topic for Chelsea”, as several other players such as Jorginho, Silva, Azpilicueta and Kante are on the agenda.
