Karim Benzema scored twice as Real Madrid beat Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League group stages, MySportDab reports.
First Half Report
A good start for both teams in the first half of the encounter which looked good coming from them as they did everything to go ahead early.
It was evenly balanced in the first 10 minutes of the game which was entertaining despite nothing happening from both ends as opportunities were created.
Karim Benzema gave Real Madrid the lead in the 14th minute of the first half after an amazing display which saw the striker finishing off with an assist from Vinicius Junior to make it 1-0.
The game opened up a bit as Shakhtar Donetsk did push back hoping to get the leveler which was very difficult to come by for them as the encounter carried on.
Fernando was able to level things for the visitors in the 39th minute which was after a good teamwork effort saw the away side making things 1-1 from a beautiful finish.
The first half prevailed and concluded with Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk heading into the break with a 0-0 goalless scoreline after a good 45 minutes of football.
Second Half Report
The second half was closely matched with both Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk doing everything possible to take the lead which wasn’t that easy coming.
It was looking good for both teams who had a fair amount of opportunities going forward with so much talking points coming from the game as the group looked open.
Karim Benzema made it his brace in the 61st minute with a stunning finish which also saw Vinicius Junior getting his second assist which made the scoreline 2-0 as it carried on.
Nothing happened except some close opportunities which could result in any goal as the match entered into the final few minutes left to play.
It finally came to an end with Real Madrid taking a 2-1 victory against Shakhtar Donetsk to make sure they keep their chances of making it into the next round alive.
