Xavi Wants Manchester City Star, When He Becomes Barca Manager

Xavi will look to sign Manchester City forward, Raheem Sterling when he becomes the new Barcelona Manager, MySportDab reports.

Following the defeat of Barcelona by Rayo Vallecano earlier this week, Ronald Koeman was sacked and it’s now widely expected that former player and club legend, Xavi will take over.

Should this happen, Xavi will look to bolster the team and it appears that Raheem Sterling has caught his attention.

The arrival of £100m Jack Grealish and the lack of playing time has caused the 26-year old to admit that would love to play abroad and Barcelona may be the club that makes this happen.

Although, MySportDab gathers that a host of top European clubs are interested in the player, Xavi is an admirer and he may become the first marque signing for the new manager.

Sterling previously spoke at the Financial Times’ Business of Sports US Summit, saying that: “I would be open to go somewhere else for more playing time if the opportunity presents itself.”

“Football is the most important to me. As an English player, I’ve known the Premier League all my life but I’ve also always had it at the back of my mind that maybe one day, I’d love to play elsewhere. Try a new challenge and learn a new language.”

Sterling contract at Manchester City does not end until 2022-23 season, however, City would be interested if the price is right.

Meanwhile, Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has informed the players that he cannot assure them playing time because they have to prove themselves as past achievements won’t affect selections.

“We are going to find a solution if anyone of them is not happy or wants to leave. We want people committed and happy to play here. You want more game time?, I cannot assure them, not Raheem, not any of them” Guardiola said.

Sterling won’t sign a new deal until his future at the club is assured and if he were to leave, Xavi’s Barcelona may well be the club who lands him.
