Striker Edinson Cavani gave up the No. 7 Jersey despite wearing it in United’s last match against Wolves.

Cavani was happy to wear the No.21 Jersey as he has always worn during his international career with Uruguay.

Cristiano Ronaldo thanked Cavani for the ‘incredible’ gesture.

‘There was some doubt if it would be possible to wear the number seven shirt again,’ Ronaldo said.

‘So thank you to Edi for this incredible gesture.’

Immediately, Manchester United confirmed Ronaldo’s return to his old shirt number after the Premier League agreed.

United spent £12.9m on the 36-year-old plus £6.9m in add-ons.

Ronaldo has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further year after passing a medical.

Ronaldo could continue playing for United until he is 39 years old.

Manchester United fans are now eager to watch Ronaldo in his shirt for their next Premier League match against Newcastle on September 11.

Price of Tickets for the match have now skyrocketed to thousands of pounds.

Ronaldo was expected to arrive back in Manchester to begin training after leaving the Portugal camp early.

He got a yellow card and collected a one-match ban for celebrating his match winner against Ireland by removing his shirt.

So, Ronaldo is not available for Portugal’s next World Cup qualifier match on Tuesday.
