First Half Report
Both sides were able to hold off each other as no goal was recorded in the first half of the encounter.
Monchengladbach was the better side when it came to controlling play as they saw most of the ball but couldn’t make anything happen.
Borussia Dortmund created some good opportunities but their finishing wasn’t going anywhere close to making it count.
The first half ended with Monchengladbach 0-0 Borussia Dortmund as they both headed for the break with a goalless shoreline.
Second Half Report
It was a different ball game as the second half came to life more than the first 45 minutes played out.
Monchengladbach thought they had fallen behind in the 53rd minute when Erling Haaland scored, but the goal was ruled out by VAR.
Jadon Sancho was able to finally gave Borussia Dortmund the much needed lead after scoring in the 66th minute with assistance from Marco Reus to make it 1-0.
The match finally ended with Monchengladbach 0-1 Borussia Dortmund as the away side claimed the win in the DFB Pokal cup game against their opponent.
