Manchester United Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that his team still have the right mentality despite the Manchester City Carabao Cup defeat, MySportDab reports.

The Red Devils have now lost four straight semi-final under the Norwegian manager.

Manchester United’s endless wait for a trophy continues.

Early in the second half, Stones gave City the lead after a sloppy defence from a free-kick.

Fernandinho secured the win for Pep Guardiola’s team late on, with a low shot past goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

For United, it was now their fourth straight semi-final defeat since the last of last season, which is worrying.

However, Coach Solskjaer has insisted that his team have the right mentality to win big games.

“Manchester Cit score many goals. We have to accept that,” he said.

“When you concede from two simple poor positions, it’s disappointing. Not good enough to progress.

“We didn’t create clear cut chances. They couldn’t either.

“We didn’t show the energy that we’ve had in recent matches. We were not good enough today.

“We played against a tough Manchester City team. The play very well. When they play good, you must be 2x better to beat them. We lacked that little bit.

“We’re now closer. This is a better version of Manchester United compared to a year ago in semi-finals.

“It’s not helping, to lose four in a row. Sometimes there are better teams in the semis. Right now, City are maybe the best team in England.”
