Liverpool Coach Jurgen Klopp has confirmed midfielder Thiago Alcantara ‘will still be out for a few weeks,’ MySportDab reports.

The Reds are currently in a Injury crisis with the Spaniard the latest player to remain unavailable.

Thiago has impressed for Liverpool this season since his summer transfer from Bayern Munich.

But Thiago suffered a knee injury in the closing stages of the Merseyside derby at Everton, the same match that Virgil van Dijk got injured.

Now, the midfielder is ruled out for most of the season.

Klopp has provided an update about Thiago’s injury and revealed how severe it is.

He said: “Thiago we need to clarify it a little bit.

“On the day that Thiago got injured in the Everton game, there was another bad injury from the same game.

“After the scans, it appeared like one was really bad and the other one was good news because nothing was broken, ruptured or stuff like that.

“But, now we are starting to realise, it was still a massive impact on his knee.

“The problem is this situation is that, nothing is ruptured and broken and that means everybody thinks, ‘OK, you can go without football for a few days’, but the impact on his leg was big that it is still not OK.

“It is not the worst because he trains from time to time, not right now because we just have to realise the steps further.

“I can’t say when he will be okay, but it will take some weeks without Thiago.”

Liverpool’s Champions League match against Ajax on Tuesday kicks off at 8pm.
