Liverpool Coach Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that defender Joel Matip and midfielder Naby Keita have both returned to training, MySportDab reports.

But, injured Thiago Alcantara is still not ready to resume training due to injury.

Liverpool now have a massive boost ahead of Tuesday night’s UCL match against Atalanta.

The Reds travel to Italy with news that Matip and Keita could play the game.

Keita hasn’t played for Liverpool since 7-2 thrashing against Aston Villa and is yet to play in the Champions League this season.

The midfielder was expected to become an important player in Liverpool’s midfield after impressing last season.

And, Keita could now play tomorrow after his return to training.

Matip has only played twice for Liverpool this season across all competitions, and he is now a major boost for the Premier League champions.

The centre-back’s injury left Klopp short of options in defence.

The German Coach was forced to play youth fringe players Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips in recent matches.

Matip could return for the weekend Premier League match at Manchester City.

However, Thiago is still out of action due to his injury.

The midfielder suffered an injury in the Everton match in the final minutes of the game.

However, Klopp has now confirmed that Thiago has not returned to first-team training yet and won’t be in the squad against Atalanta.

When asked for an injury update, Klopp said: “There’s a lot, I’m not sure about a new one. We must wait.

“Yesterday was a good recovery for some and normal training for others, so we must now see how they boys feel.

“It’s early now and I have not gotten the full information, but I hope it’s not serious.

“Naby and Matip trained with the team yesterday, Thiago didn’t.

“So, that’s how it is.

“I don’t know what to do with this information, but yes, they trained, that’s great, it’s better than when can’t train.

“But we have to see what happens.

“We have to make these decisions on another day.

“A lot of players will be on the plane for the trip, and so some decisions will be late, late, late.”
