Liverpool FC have confirmed that Sadio Mane has now tested positive for coronavirus after some tests, MySportDab reports.
Some few days ago, team-mate Thiago Alcantara also tested positive for COVID-19.
A statement from Liverpool read:”Sadio Mane has now tested positive for COVID-19 after running tests and is now in self-isolation according to the health guidelines.
“The forward, who scored in Monday’s 3-1 win against Arsenal, has already showed symptoms of the virus but feels great overall.”
However, Liverpool will continue to follow all necessary health safely protocols relating to COVID-19.
Sadio Mane took a private test after showing some symptoms of the virus and has now started self-isolation at home.
The Senegalese wrote on Instagram on Friday: “Hi, I’ve tested positive for Covid-19 but I feel okay and not having serious symptoms. I will start my quarantine now.
“Make sure to stay safe and follow all guidelines to protect yourself and your family to avoid another wave of the COVID-19 virus spreading across the world. I will return stronger than ever! We will be okay.”
Liverpool are confident that the virus will not spread around the squad because of strict procedures at their Melwood training base.
If more players show symptoms, they will be tested twice before returning to the squad.
Both Sadio Mane and Thiago will now miss Liverpool’s Premier League match against Aston Villa on Sunday.
