Victor Osimhen has been announced as Lille’s Player of the Season, following his excellent displays for the French side in the 2019-20 season.
The Super Eagles striker joined Lille last summer from Charleroi where he scored 19 league goals before his departure.
The 21 year old striker was recruited as a replacement for Nicolas Pepe, who joined Premier League giants Arsenal.
On the arrival of Osimhen at Lille, the Nigerian striker hit the ground running with his superb performance.
Osimhen scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.
The youngster 13 strikes in Ligue 1 was the fourth overall highest in the top division.
The Nigeria player see off competition from Andre and Renato Sanches to clinch the award, according to a statement on the club website.
The award is the second he has won this season after he scooped the Ligue 1 Player of the Month for October in 2019.
Osimhen gained recongnition at the 2015 U17 World Cup in Chile, where he helped the Golden Eaglets to win the title.
He went on to scoop the Golden Boot and Silver Ball awards alongside the Caf Youth Player of the Year prize in 2015.
In 2017, he moved to Wolfsburg but struggled to make an impact but he made only 12 appearance before his departure to Charleroi.
The forward is currently linked with a move to numbers of top clubs in Europe
The likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur following his fine form for Lille.
