The German Bundesliga restart has been pushed back by German Chancellor Angela Merkel until May 22 at least, MySportDab reports.

German football was expected to return from May 15, becoming the first European league to restart after the coronavirus lockdown.

But it has now been pushed back for another week which is bad news for European football.

Angela Merkel will meet the heads of state in Germany today and discuss the country’s options going forward.

The decision might be due to the fact that all teams must have at least two weeks of quarantine before returning.

Most football Leagues in Europe have been suspended since March and the Premier League are still yet to decide a return date for football.

June 8 is being discussed as a possible return for football in England and the Chancellor will announce when the German league will return fully this month.

MySportDab can confirm that German clubs have already resumed training over the past few weeks and are ready to return back to games.

English clubs have started working at their training grounds but players can only train individually and not in groups.

On Monday in Germany, There were 61 new deaths from CoronaVirud as the German government do everything to stop the virus spread.
