Odion Ighalo will not join his new Manchester United first-team teammates in their warm-weather training camp in Spain due to serious concerns, MySportDab reports.
The Red Devils will stay in Marbella for some time as they seek to finish in the Premier League Top four.
Manchester United have suffered for consistency in the league this season, after failing to win three successive matches this campaign.
They lost three of their last five gamd and drew at home against Wolves before the break after losses to Liverpool and Burnley.
And Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer repeatedly revealed how tired his squad looked, which has not helped in any way.
With key player Marcus Rashford out with a back injury until March, Ighalo was signed in January on a six-month loan from Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua.
The Nigerian international will help assit Anthony Martial in Rashford’s absence, allowing the Frenchman play on wing and Ighalo likely as the lone Striker.
But Martial will not meet Ighalo in Marbella, with the new player staying in Manchester with a personal trainer, having arrived in England just last week.
Manchester United have confirmed that Ighalo did not travel due to potential risk of border restrictions on people arriving in the United Kingdom from China.
The Premier League Club wrote in a statement: “The club can confirm that, due to the rising situation in China, we have decided that new signing Odion Ighalo will not join the squad in Spain as there is mo guarantee that he’d clear UK immigration on return should border restrictions get worse on travellers who’ve been to China over the past 14 days.
“Ighalo will remain in Manchester on a personal training and fitness programme so that he will be fit and fully ready to join his new teammates in training sessions when they arrive from the trip.
“This is simply a precaution as the situation continues to be monitored.”
On the situation, Coach Solskjaer said: “Odion will remain in Manchester, because he arrived from China within the last 14 days.
“Due to the situation in China, we not sure if he’d be allowed back into England if he leaves again, so he’s staying at home working with a personal coach, individual programme and his family can also settle in England.
“Of course he would have loved to come with the players and got to know them better, but the risk of border restrictions is too high and we don’t want to take that.”
