Vanja Bosnić is a Croatian former sports agent and the wife of football legend Luka Modrić. Long before she became his wife, Vanja was a professional in her own right, serving as a sports agent who personally negotiated one of the most significant transfers of Modrić’s career: his 2012 move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid.

The couple have built one of the most private, low-profile relationships in professional football, raising three children together while Modrić became one of the greatest midfielders of his generation.

Vanja Bosnić Biography

Vanja Bosnić

She was born on July 18, 1982, in Varaždin, Croatia, and initially grew up in Kutina in a comfortable, sports-oriented family. Her father, Milan, was a basketball player who later ran his own restaurant.

When Vanja Bosnić was 11, her parents divorced, and she moved with her mother, Vesna, to Zagreb, where her mother took a teaching job to support the family, a sacrifice Vanja has said she never forgot.

Inspired by her mother’s example, Vanja went on to study economics and business at the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Economics and Business, graduating with a degree in the field.

Career

Vanja Career

Vanja Bosnić began her professional career at the Mamić Sports Agency, the same agency that managed Luka Modrić’s career while he played for Dinamo Zagreb.

She worked as a sports agent, gaining direct experience in football contract negotiations and player representation.

After she and Modrić married, Vanja became his personal agent and played a significant role in negotiating his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid in 2012, a deal reportedly worth around £30 million that became one of the defining moves of his career.

Following this milestone, Vanja stepped away from professional sports management to focus on raising the couple’s growing family. However, she has continued to be involved in aspects of Modrić’s off-field business ventures.

She does not maintain any verified public social media accounts, keeping her personal and professional life deliberately private despite her husband’s global fame.

Meanwhile, Luka Modrić began his professional career with Dinamo Zagreb before transferring to Tottenham Hotspur in 2008, where he played for four years.

His 2012 move to Real Madrid was initially met with skepticism by sections of the Spanish media, but he went on to become one of the most decorated midfielders in the club’s history.

Alongside Casemiro and Toni Kroos, he formed one of football’s most successful midfield trios and won six UEFA Champions League titles with the club.

In 2018, Modrić captained Croatia to the FIFA World Cup final and was named the tournament’s best player before winning the Ballon d’Or later that year, ending the decade-long dominance of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the award.

Croatia also finished third at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, with Modrić again playing a central leadership role.

Modrić left Real Madrid in 2025 after 13 seasons with the club and signed with AC Milan.

He remains captain of the Croatian national team, closing in on his 200th international appearance while competing in his sixth FIFA World Cup at the 2026 tournament.

Beyond his playing career, Modrić serves as a global ambassador for Nike and holds a co-ownership stake in Championship club Swansea City.

Luka Modric’s Wife

Luka Modric's Wife

Vanja Bosnić and Luka Modrić met in 2007 at the Mamić Sports Agency, where she worked, and Modrić was a client during his time with Dinamo Zagreb.

Their relationship developed from a professional connection into a serious romance. When Modrić transferred to Tottenham Hotspur in 2008, Vanja relocated to London with him, an early sign of the commitment that would define their relationship.

The couple married in May 2010 in a private civil ceremony in Zagreb, followed by a Catholic church wedding the following year.

Their son, Ivano, was born on June 6, 2010, just weeks after their civil wedding.

Vanja and Luka have three children together. Their son, Ivano, was born in June 2010, followed by their daughter, Ema, born on April 25, 2013, and their youngest daughter, Sofia, born on October 2, 2017.

The family has maintained a notably low profile despite Modrić’s global celebrity. Ema has reportedly developed an interest in soccer, while Sofia is often seen alongside her mother and siblings supporting Luka from the stands during matches.
