Worry For Bayern As Jamal Musiala Confirms Health Condition After Second Collapse

Jamal Musiala suffered another worrying moment after collapsing off the ball during Bayern Munich’s 4-2 pre-season win over Heidenheim today.

The incident has raised fresh concerns around the Bayern Munich star, coming only four days after he went down during the club’s friendly against RB Leipzig.

Musiala came on as a substitute against Heidenheim and had only been on the pitch for a few minutes when he suddenly fell to the ground for unknown reason.

The 23-year-old was able to get back up and walk off the pitch under his own power, but Bayern’s medical staff quickly attended to him before he was taken off.

The latest incident was especially concerning because it happened so soon after his previous collapse which was more horrific looking at the whole thing.

During Bayern Munich’s 3-1 win over RB Leipzig on August 15, Musiala appeared unsteady and collapsed late in the game after just coming on to play and scoring.

His teammate Ismael Saibari helped prevent him from hitting the ground heavily, while medical staff rushed over to check on him as play was stopped by officials.

There was some relief after the first incident when Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said Musiala was doing well following more medical check up done on the player.

The midfielder also returned to individual training on Monday, completing a short session that included dribbling and shooting. He appeared to have recovered well and passed a fitness test.

However, the second collapse has changed the picture and understandably left Bayern Munich fans feeling concerned and worried about the player’s health condition.

Musiala has now explained that he has been dealing with what he described as a neurological dysfunction that can cause temporary episodes of absence.

He has said he is receiving medical care and remains positive about his ability to continue his football career.

“First things first – I’m doing well! Above all, I’m incredibly grateful for all your messages and your support! I understand that many of you are worried.

“I want to put those concerns to rest today and explain a little more: I have been diagnosed with brief, temporary episodes of absence that are easily treatable and are caused by a neurological dysfunction.

“These can lead to the moments that have occurred recently, such as against Leipzig and now in Heidenheim.

“I know that they may seem scary at first glance – but for me, they are currently simply part of my everyday life. I am receiving the best possible medical care in this regard, and I am very optimistic.

“FC Bayern and the people closest to me are always by my side and supporting me on this journey. What is important is that there is no additional health risk beyond this.

“In close consultation and regular communication with the specialists, it was my personal wish to face this challenge and, with the approval of the neurological specialists, to continue doing what helps me most in my recovery: simply living my everyday life and continuing to pursue my passion of playing football.

“I have taken responsibility for that decision. Overall, I have a very good feeling and I am on a good path.

“What helps me most along the way is continuing to chase victories and titles with my team, with your incredible support. I hope this helps you understand me better.

“At the same time, I ask for your understanding that I would like to continue keeping this matter within the circle of my closest confidants, the club and the experts. Thank you very much”.

The timing is difficult for Bayern, with the new season approaching. Musiala has already had to fight his way back from a serious leg and ankle injury suffered against Paris Saint-Germain at the 2025 Club World Cup.

He returned to action in January 2026 after 196 days out. For now, the priority is clearly Musiala’s health rather than football.

Bayern Munich will need to work closely with medical experts before making any decision about his return to competitive action.

Fans will hope the talented midfielder can get the right treatment and return safely when he is ready. Jamal Musiala is not also loosing all hope of making full return to playing after facing this recent setback.
