Manchester United officially Unveils new signing Andrey Santos who completes a permanent move from Chelsea this summer transfer window 2026.
The 22-year-old arrives from Chelsea in a high-profile move valued at approximately £50 million, comprising an upfront payment of £48 million with an additional £2 million in performance-related add-ons.
The arrival of Santos is a calculated move by Manchester United’s leadership to fortify a midfield that has been a focal point of their summer recruitment strategy.

According to Director of Football Jason Wilcox, the club had been tracking the Brazilian’s progress closely before they eventually decided on making the move happen this summer.
Wilcox said: “Andrey is an outstanding midfielder with excellent technical qualities and the ability to impact the game at both ends of the pitch.
“He was a key target for us in an important position, so we are delighted that he will join Michael’s squad so early in pre-season.
“Despite already having extensive experience, leadership abilities and proving his talent at the highest level, Andrey still has enormous potential to develop further, and we cannot wait to see him flourish at Manchester United.”
Santos stood out in league data last season for his exceptional pass-completion rates and his ability to drive the ball forward, registering some of the highest progressive passing metrics among midfielders under the age of 22 in the Premier League.
For the player himself, the move represents a fresh start. Despite his clear technical ability and leadership experience, having previously captained Brazil at the youth international level, Santos found opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge.
Operating primarily in a rotational role to support the likes of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, he was hungry for a platform where he could command a more consistent starting role.
In his first official interview with the club’s media team, Santos expressed his enthusiasm for the transition to Old Trafford saying: “Everything about Manchester United is special; it is an incredible feeling to join a club that some of my biggest idols have represented.
“As a midfielder, I am really excited to have the opportunity to learn from Michael Carrick, he is the perfect coach to help me take the next step in my career and push to achieve my dreams.
“Everybody told me about how ambitious the club is and the amazing environment that has been created here.
“I know just how strong the squad is and I cannot wait to fight together to compete for the biggest trophies.”
The acquisition has already begun to shift market sentiments. Following the announcement, implied probability metrics for Manchester United’s title chances saw a modest boost, rising from 22% to approximately 25.5%.
While analysts caution that this single signing may not be the sole silver bullet to close the gap on league leaders like Manchester City, it is viewed as a significant step in the right direction.

The deal includes a 10% sell-on clause retained by Chelsea, reflecting the high future potential the Blues still see in the player, despite their willingness to part ways with him to a direct rival.
For United, the focus now shifts to finalizing other ongoing targets as the summer window enters its most intense phase. The Brazilian signed a five-year contract which includes an option for an additional sixth year.
He is expected to be integrate into the squad immediately as they prepare for the pre-season schedule. Manchester United also reached an to sign Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa earlier today.
Andrey Santos is expected to play a huge part under Michael Carrick who believes he is the perfect man to cover up the space that was left vacant by Casemiro.
