PSG have missed out on the top eight of the 2025–26 Champions League league-phase standings following a dramatic 1-1 draw with Newcastle United in the final round, MySportDab reports.
The defending champions head into the match on 14 points and needed victory to finish in the round of 16 slot.
They were the overwhelming favourites playing host to Newcastle United in Paris, but it ended up a disappointing night for the Ligue 1 giants as Newcastle United held firm to run out with an unlikely point.
Luis Enrique’s charges had a firm hold of proceedings in the match, wielding an astronomical 67% of the ball against Newcastle’s 33%.

As expected, they pinned the visiting Premier League side to their half and were threatening with countless offensives from the start.
Just a few minutes into the game, their dominant showing won them a penalty, but Ousmane Dembele missed it.
Four minutes after the missed penalty, Vitinha latched onto Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s assist and fired them into the lead.
They nearly went into the break with the lead before Joe Willock netted the equalizer in first-half stoppage time.
The second half came with a more intense pressure for the Magpies as the hosts doubled down on their offence, pushing to retake the lead.
They fired 25 shots overall with seven on target and created three big chances, but Newcastle held firm to deny them the second goal.
Things went nervy in the final minutes, but the visitors stood firm and finally ran out with an unlikely one point in Paris –leaving both teams out of the top 8 and straight to the knockout playoff round.
