Amorim Opens Up On Ratcliffe Showdown Meeting Amid United Turmoil

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed how his meeting with club owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe went down amid Man United’s struggles, MySportDab reports.

The Portuguese tactician has come under fire for his tactical intransigence despite United’s dwindling fortunes.

The Red Devils’ struggles hit a new low last week under the watch of Amorim when they fell 3-0 against arch-rivals Manchester City at Etihad.

They had also crashed out of the Carabao Cup second round, losing on penalties to third division club Grimsby.

Amid this spiralling misfortune, Amorim has taken a rather bold step not to change his three-man defence style despite heavy criticisms for sticking to the apparently ineffective tactical approach.

And on Friday, United’s owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly flew into Manchester to convene showdown talks with the under-pressure gaffer for a way forward.

According to Amorim, Sir Jim Ratcliffe assured him of his backing, reiterating that it was a long-term project.

“He offered me a new contract! No, it was a normal thing to show support, explaining that it’s a long project, which he has said many times. We spoke about normal things with Omar and Jason,” he revealed.

This briefing by the former Sporting boss delineates United’s hierarchy’s unflinching support for Amorim despite United’s dwindling fortunes.

However, it is worth noting that the tables may turn if results don’t improve in the coming weeks.

Manchester United returns to Premier League action on Sunday against Chelsea on Sunday.

Amorim will be under pressure to turn things around with a strong performance against the Blues after the recent deadlock.
