Real Betis have signed out-of-favour Man United winger Antony on a permanent deal just at the end of the transfer window, MySportDab reports.
The La Liga side have been on the trail of Antony after his impressive loan shift with the club last season. However, they were facing hiccups with United on a agreeing a deal.
According to reports, the 2025 UEFA Conference League finalists wanted another loan deal with United for Antony.
This proposal was met with rejection by United who wanted a permanent exit solution for the player. And the challenge was Betis meeting the Red Devils’ asking price for the player.
Now, according to David Ornstein, both parties have now settled terms for a permanent transfer of Antony with Betis making major concessions to see through the deal.
Details of the agreement reveal Man United requested no termination of contract payment for the Brazil winger after agreeing a €25m transfer fee with Betis for the player.
Another major clause in the deal, which apparently influenced its success, is the fact that Betis have agreed to pay United 50% of the proceeds of Antony’s sale in the future if they want to part ways with the player.
This deal marks the end of Antony’s brief and controversial chapter with Manchester United. The Brazilian winger joined United in 2022 for a then-record £83m transfer fee from Ajax.
After a promising start to his spell with the club, an off-field scandal involving rape allegation consumed his career.
He came under backlash severally for underwhelming performances before finally breathing life back to his career during his brief loan spell with Real Betis last season.
The 24-year-old will hope to continue from where he stopped last season with Betis as he opens a fresh new chapter with the La Liga side.
