It has been revealed that Luis Diaz’s canceled goal for Liverpool against Tottenham was never a VAR blunder, MySportDab reports.

A seething clash between Liverpool and Tottenham was certainly set for a dramatic ending but the officiating blunder that led to Luis Diaz’s goal being canceled was the least expected.

Referees administrative and regulatory body, PGMOL have since issued a public apology, recognizing that there was an obvious blunder that led to Luis Diaz’s goal being canceled.

Fingers were immediately pointed to VAR for the blunder as pundits heaped blames on the offside technology for not being spot-on on the decision on time before the center-referee took the final decision.

While many have blamed the VAR for the blunder a new report reaching us from The Mail has revealed the VAR official incharge of the match, Darren England, was actually at fault for the blunder.

The report says, the mistake was made due to a misunderstanding between the VAR official Darren England and center-referee, Simon Hooper.

More details of what transpired revealed Darren England actually thought the center referee, Simon Hooper, allowed the goal before he signalled ‘check complete’ after Simon Hooper made finger gestures to the VAR officials.

In other words, VAR allowed the goal and signalled ‘check complete’ not knowing Simon Hooper actually disallowed the goal.

There have been a barrage of criticisms on the decision with former Liverpool star and pundit Jamie Carragher, blasting the blunder as too glaring to ignore.

The PGMOL have also acknowledged the error and pledged to contact Liverpool to that effect.

Jurgen Klopp blasted PGMOL statement after the game, saying it will not change anything.

Tottenham went on to win the game 2-1 after the final whistle with Liverpool down to 9 men after Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota were sent off.
