Liverpool are a step closer to securing their first attacking signing this summer, MySportDab reports.

The Reds have reinforced their midfield and defense with key additions such as Florian Wirtz, Jeremy Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez, and are now closing in on securing the services of a forward to complete the revamp.

It is understood they could be losing Darwin Nunez this summer hence the decision to find the Uruguayan’s replacement.

French youth international Hugo Ekitike emerged onto the radar among possible options and they have now close to adding him to their expanding list of new signings this summer.

According to Fabrice Hawkins, the Premier League champions have agreed personal terms with Hugo Ekitike for a six-year contract till 2031.

Latest reports also add they are now close to reaching an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for the player. The deal is expected to be in excess of £80m with the Reds ready to break the bank again for the 23-year-old after a record £116m deal with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz.

MySportDab understands Newcastle United, who are battling to keep Liverpool target Alexander Isak, were also in the race for Hugo Ekitike.

However, the Magpies pulled out after their £70m offer was turned down in hand by Eintracht Frankfurt leaving Liverpool in pole position to sign the player.

As things stand, it is just a matter of time before Liverpool seal the deal for Hugo Ekitike. They reportedly fell back deeply into the race for the former PSG forward after setbacks in their attempt to sign Isak. ,

Nevertheless, it is yet unclear whether the progress in both personal and club terms for Ekitike will end their pursuit of Isak.
