Manchester United have been dealt a critical injury blow ahead of their pre-season tour in the United States, MySportDab reports.
The Red Devils are set to resume their regular tour of the United States to build momentum for what will be a make-or-break campaign next season for new manager Ruben Amorim.
They will kick off the tour by a club friendly against Leeds this July in Europe before traveling to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series.
This will be followed with a friendly against Fiorentina at Old Trafford – a match that could see their legendary goalie David De Gea return to the Old Trafford for the first time since his infamous exit in 2022.
Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, several players are back from their summer break to join the team for the tour as momentum builds for next season.
First-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana was also back to the team but is set to be sidelined throughout the pre-season campaign.
According to the Mail, Onana has been diagnosed with a hamstring Injury and will be sidelined for 4-6 months before returning to the team.
However, he is still expected to make the pre-season squad for the USA trip and will concurrently receive treatment while in camp with the team.
Meanwhile, it is understood his injury has inconvenienced Man United transfer plans this summer. Sources close to the Old Trafford club reveal they are considering signing another goalkeeper to bolster their goalkeeping options in the wake of the Cameroonian’s injury blow.
Meanwhile, second-choice Altay Bayindir is in line to replace Onana following the blow. United also have veteran Tom Heaton, who recently extended his contract by a year, to bank on.
